We were pleased to be appointed Principal Contractor by DHG Hydro for their Russel Burn Hydro scheme at Kishorn which was a joint venture between them, The Applecross Trust and The Scottish Salmon Company.

This was a challenging project due the very close proximity of the intake to the salmon hatchery and the whole scheme being situated within a SSSI, NSA and SAC, however we established a great working relationship with DHG Hydro, and all other interested parties, which meant the project was completed on schedule and to the required specifications.

The scheme involved installation of 1200m of 800mm diameter pipe through difficult terrain, a river crossing, road crossing and construction of outfall, turbine house and associated substation building and began generating in October 2013.
